Each of the four players is dealt 13 cards from a standard 52-card deck. Cards are dealt anti-clockwise. Every player receives an equal hand — no wild cards, no jokers.
Before the first card is played, each player bids the number of tricks they expect to win — minimum bid is 1. The bid is a contract. Honour it or lose points.
Spades (♠) are the permanent trump suit in Callbreak. Any spade beats any non-spade card regardless of face value. Players must follow the led suit if they can; only then may they play spades.
The player to the dealer's right leads the first trick. Players must follow suit if possible. The highest card of the led suit wins — unless a spade is played, in which case the highest spade wins.
Win at least as many tricks as you bid: score your bid as a positive number. Win fewer tricks than your bid: your bid is subtracted from your score. Bonus tricks count as 0.1 each.
A full Callbreak Quick game on 999cx runs for exactly five rounds. After round five, the player with the highest cumulative score wins the prize pool. Ties are broken by total tricks won.
